Music Meme II -- THE SEQUEL!

I'm re-doing this one because I evilly gave rdmasters "X" as his letter, and I told him I'd do X myself if I felt I was being too evil, which he did.
So here I go, taken purely from what I have right now on my iTunes...

Music Meme -- taken from marydell

1. If you'd like to play along, reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. You then list (and upload or link to the video, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Then, as I'm doing here, you'll post the list to your journal with the instructions. Easy peasy!

My letter this time is "X."

Under the Cut...

1) Xena, Warrior Princess: This, along with its predecessor and sibling show Hercules, brought the cheesy coolness of Ray Harryhausen-style mythological potboilers to a new level. Its opening theme, like its eponymous protagonist, kicks ass.

2) X-Files Theme: While I found the show ultimately too annoying to watch (both because it was clear that Carter hadn't the faintest idea of what the Conspiracy or the players in it were, and because of the Everything Is Always Covered Up Again trick), the influence of the show is undeniable, and the haunting opening theme is instantly recognizable.

3) Xenosaga Prologue: The opening for the first of the Xenosaga videogames, this is both a gorgeous opening and a gorgeous piece of music. I love the shifts in mood and drama throughout the piece.

4) Xanadu, by Rush: In my opinion this song may be the very pinnacle of Rush's work; it is certainly in their top ten ever. The lead-in is lyrical and the following song DRIVES.

5) "X", by X-Japan: Used in a trailer for X-1999 by CLAMP, the song kicked ass, the trailer was awesome, the movie sucked, but we had a lot of fun at Katsucon dancing and singing "X!!!"

And one more Bonus Track just to show I'm not done yet...

6) X-Men, Animated Theme from the 1980s: Back then, this opening and music was pretty darn kick-ass for a cartoon! Nowadays it's pretty weak, and what we really wanted was the Japanese vision for the same show; unfortunately, all they did was

6.5) stick this awesome opening on the front of the cartoon we sent them.

And there's my "X"!
